Shawn Johnson Daning with the Stars All Stars

 

 Shawn Johnson's mother has related that at an early age, Shawn had a passion for climbing whatever was around her.  She climbed the jungle gym at daycare and loved climbing to the tops of swing sets.  I bet that kept mom and dad worried at times.  She also enjoyed wrestling with her cousins and riding the vacuum cleaner.  It was  a bit of a chore to come up with things that would interest her.

 Her parents tired dancing and tumbling classes, but it was not until she discovered gymnastics that she was truly happy.  As she progressed she first competed at the age of 7.  Over the years, she became better and better and everyone knew this is where she belonged. 
 
Shawn never really thought about the Olympics but eventually became part of the US National Team.  As she continued working hard, she was deemed one of the top athletes for the 2008 Women Olympics Team.  She placed first at the Olympic Trials and was given a spot on the 2008 Olympic Team.
 

In the games of 2008 she won the gold medal for all-around, floor exercises the silver medal,  She is also the winner of Season 8 Dancing with the stars.

And now, she is back for the All Stars season, starting in Sept. 2012. Of this experience she is excited and yet nervous at the same time. 

Shawn also supports the "Exercise Your Character" program through speaking engagements.
