Melissa was born March 11, 1983, in Dallas Texas. She has had quite an interesting life for one so young. She was a drill team officer at Newman Smith High School, in Carrollton, Texas, and she graduated in 2001.
This experience must have been helpful in landing her a role as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader in 2007. She also participated in CMT's reality series, "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team."
I first met here on television as a contestant on the Bachelor 13, with Jason Mesnick. Jason proposed to her instead of Molly Malaney. Melissa said yes but when "After the Final Rose" aired, there were difficulties between the two. Jason broke up with Melissa on TV and said he was still in love with Molly. Here is a picture of her and she looks very angry. I felt sorry for her but it is better to know now than later.
Fortunately, her life took a wonderful turn when Nancy O'Dell of "Access Hollywood," suffered an injury and was hot able to perform on Dancing with the Stars 7.. Melissa was partnered with Tony Dovolani. She was great and appeared on the first show after only practice for two days. She seemed to have a natural ability and she was cheered on by many. She did so well that she finished third on the Dancing with the Stars finale.
Her fame seemed to continue as she was offered some work with "Good Morning America," as a contributor during the summer. In August of 2010, she co-hosted "Bachelor Pad" with Chris Harrison.
During her time on "Dancing with the Stars," she connected with a former boyfriend, Tye Strickland, and eventually they became engaged, married, and she is now the mother of a baby girl who was born in February of 2011.
She seems to have found happiness and I look forward to hearing about good things for her in the future.
She's back for DWTS 2012!
