Look at that smile!!!!
Meet Donald Driver, a 37 year old wide receiver, another NFL player competing for the Mirrorball Trophy. Those who have gone before him are: Emmitt Smith (Season 3 winner), Hines Ward (Season 12 Winner), Chad Ochocinco, Lawrence Taylor, and Jerry Rice. How will Donald compare?
Donald overcame a childhood of being homeless and other problems to become a Super Bowl Champion. He is the all-time leading receiver in Green Bay Packers history. Due to his background, he and his wife Betina, created the Donald Driver Foundation in 2001, with a homelessness focus. It also stresses health and wellness. The foundation helps kids with hospital bills and housing.
He is also a devoted father and has written several children's books. The loveable character is "Quickie" and such titles include "Quickie Handles a Loss," "Quickie Makes the Team," and "Quickie Goes to the Big Game." His latest book, "Quickie Wins the Championship" was featured at the Library of Congress with an event that featured First Lady Michelle Obama.
According to sources, Donald is taking this time with DWTS very seriously. He told TMZ that he is, "Working himself to the bone to crush the composition." He practices for 5 hours at a time with his partner, Petra Murgatroyd. Then, he goes home to study dance moves on YouTube. He is also staying close to the male pros and studies their footwork, similar to what he would do in the study of football games. One dancing source has this to say, "Donald's work ethic is insane."
Sounds like he is really taking it seriously and should be around for a many weeks. I think Petra has a better partner this time, with the proper attitude, which makes a big difference.
