Dancing with the Stars 13: Week 6 Some High Scores, Some Low Scores, and a Pro Let Someone Have it Recap!

It Was Broadway Week; The pressure was on for Pros and Stars!

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke: Cha Cha to Walk Like A Man

The dance was fun to watch but Rob did not seem to do as well as last week. It was nice seeing his mom appear at the rehearsal, telling him how proud she is of him.

Len: "It was clean and precise, good timing" But he added, "There was no rhythm (the crowd booed), it was too stiff."
Bruno: "It was adequate but it didn't have the impact and power it should have at this stage."
Carrie Ann: She feels he is "right on the cusp." "She likened it to going from a BA degree in college to a Masters degree. On a positive note she had this to say, "Much more charisma... I liked seeing that."
Score: 22
SereneLdy: I felt he could have done somewhat better but overall I thought he did a great job. He is coming into his own and it is great seeing him more relaxed.

Ryan Seacrest posted his support on Twitter, writing, “Keep pushing @RobKardashian! My Twitter is full of people talking about u on dwts – love the hustle bro.”

Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus: Foxtrot to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Bruno: He called her, "It's Nancy dance a lot." He felt she captured the feel of the music.
Carrie Ann: "I would call that a show stopper, you nailed it."
Len:  "Much more personality came out." He did talk about her posture and footwork not being the best. Once again the audience booed and there was argument from the other judges.
SereneLdy: I loved seeing her personality come out more and she seemed to be having fun. I loved the finale where Tristan collapsed against Nancy's feet.
Score: 24
David Arquette and Kym Johnson: Quickstep to We Go Together from Grease
Carrie Ann: "You met all of our expectations." "It was an iconic classic." However, she did feel that he and Kym were out of sinc a few times.
Len: "It as a bit rough around the edges...but it was fun." He enjoyed his energy and enthusiasm.
Bruno: "The exuberance and charm of a frisky teenager on spring break...the energy was right up there."
SereneLdy: I thought he did a nice job and I loved the clean shaven look. I think the out of sync was due to his overly energetic mood. He even said, during the week, that he needed to be careful of not getting carried away. But I felt he did well.
Score: 23

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough: Quickstep to Luck Be a Lady

Len: "You don't need luck if you've got talent... You were flying!... I loved it"
Bruno: "Impeccable style, outstanding choreography...beyond belief."
Carrie Ann: "It's beautiful to see such poetry in motion... everything a number should be."  She wanted to give them a Tony award!
Score: A near perfect score, 29, Len was the hold out.
SereneLdy: I absolutely loved it. I was worried about the injury Ricki talked about during the week, but she pulled it off beautifully. Derek's choregraphy was brilliant, once again.

Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer: Tango to Phantom of the Opera

The costumes were perfect.
Bruno: "It was like watching a cute little penguin trying to be a big [menacing] bird of prey." He did not feel it was intense enough.
Carrie Ann: "This was the most aggressive I've seen you but … you're going to have to up the ante."
Len: "I know that you're trying your hardest." He told him he was glad he got through the entire routine and he understands that this dance does not suit his personality well.
SereneLdy: Chaz gets an "A" for effort but this dance was way beyond his ability. He really should be going home at this phase of the show, based solely on his dancing. We shall see.
Score: 19, lowest of the night.

His mother Cher tweeted, “Chaz U worked HARD & I’M PROUD! Tango is Tough! Thought u were very “Phantom” Know you’re disappointed (sic) By Score!ME 2! Remember ur a BONO.”

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
: Rhumba

During the week, Maks brought in three women to dance in a sexy way so Hope could see what it looks like. She felt it was a great idea as she learns by watching. Maks and Hope did not start out as well in the sense that Maks made the statement, You've got to give me something to hold on to because I am losing faith too."
Carrie Ann: "For the first time I saw you relaxing and trusting your natural sexiness." But you bloosomed and you unbloosomed."
Len: "I've never lost faith in you." But he felt it was the worst dance for her of the season. Big booing from the audience. He suggested the boots she wore did not help.
Bruno: He felt it worked at times.
Maks: He let out several outbursts which are addressed below.
SereneLdy: I did not feel it was that bad, but I wondered who thought up her costume. It was hidious. What were they thinking? She could be going home. I love her effort but her athletic abiltiy just keeps getting in the way of the dancing. Not her fault. She is terrific at soccer.
Score: 20

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff: Quickstep
What a way to end the evening! Karina told J.R. that this is the most ambitious routine she has ever designed but she feels he can do it. And boy, did he ever.
Len: "Truly relentless. Keep on keeping on. You have have really come up a notch."
Bruno: "Rip roaring - It's a hit."
Carrie Ann: "Bob Fossie would be proud of you. I give you a Tony award too."
SereneLdy: WOW, another brilliant dance design by Karina. This man can truly dance!!!!!

Group Dance with all of the currently competing stars and their pro partners to medley of Broadway hits The group dance was not scored by the judges. I loved it.

Len: "A fitting tribute to Broadway."
All the stars shined in this number. Nancy Grace got a "bonus point" from Carrie Ann for her lift.

 Maks Speaks Out

Maksim Chmerkovskiy has had enough of the judges being super critical and told them exactly what he thought after Hope's dance. Len claimed Hope Solo’s rhumba performance was her “worst dance,” and Maks defended his soccer star partner with some choice, heated words.

After Goodman said he'd been in the business for 50 years and knew what he was talking about, Maks snapped that it was "time to go."  Carrie Ann suggested he back off and show some respect.
 Maks further stated:
This is the first time Hope came out and she did exactly what she planned and there was no stress and no tension and it was a great performance. And I really liked dancing with her tonight. And to get comments that was the opposite of what it was, it wasn't even upsetting, it was more like, ‘I have had enough!’ You have an opinion. I also have an opinion…The judges will say, ‘Hey, this is show business, this is supposed to be fun.’ Well, I had fun tonight.”

Backstage after the show, Maks stuck to his guns. "Len is the only one who comes from a ballroom background, and I really respect his opinion," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I've danced for 27 years, and I've won more titles than Len ever even participated in."

As for Maks' remark on camera to co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet that "... this is my show," the dancer explained backstage, "I feel like it's my show, and together, with other pros, I dedicated six years of my life to this show. I've helped make it what it is, but I've never taken it away from anybody else who participated."

What did some pros and a celebrity think?

"He did go a little too far with it, but it is what it is." -J.R. Martinez

"He spoke his opinion and he should be allowed to do it." -Lacey Schwimmer

I felt like the judges have been incredibly generous this season so I was surprised." -Derek Hough

SereneLdy feels Maks went a bit too far, but I understand his frustration. The judges have been much less "ugly" this season. They have been constructive and usually give a positive statement with the critique.  If you remember, Bruno and Michael  Bolton had some words a few years ago. Things seem better since then.

WHo gave JR & Karina the 9 for their dance? Len or Bruno?
It was Len who gave the 9's. It should have been 10's.
