Last night was 80's night which means big hair, big shoulder pads, and neon bangle bracelets.  It was a fun night. I especially enjoy seeing how the costumes will fit in with the theme.

 

Hope and Maks 

Song: "Livin' on a Prayer"  by Bon Jovi

Dance: Tango

Len: He did not feel she had any strength. "It was too willowy in the body."  However, he did like the attack.

Bruno:  He felt she foot the "80's bitch" right to a T."  He compared her Alexis Carrington.

Carrie Ann:  She enjoyed the dance but felt Hope had too much "attacking," stating, "Less is  more." She lost her lines.

SereneLdy: I enjoyed the dance but also felt she went a bit overboard. But is wonderful seeing her more animated and more relaxed. If the lower scoring celebrities don't go home, she might.

 

J.R. and Karina

Song: "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine"

Dance: Samba

Score:  28

Bruno:  "You are so confident. You are right there at the top." And he stated that most men fail at this dance.

Len: "The way to go Jose." Although Len considers J.R. a good dancer, he did not expect him to perform so well. And he added,"\I if any man comes out and asks how to do a samba, he'll say, "have a look at J.R."

Bruno:  He thought he was a "sex machine." He loved it.

Carrie Ann:  "In Spanish, she said, "Muy Caliente. I want more of that. You were on fired. She was even bleeped over a few things she said.

Score: 28 Top of the leaderboard this week.

SereneLdy:  During the week, J.R. felt he needed to get into his "Latin Side." He and Karina went to a Latin club in Los Angeles. It was fun watching the dancing and I feel it helped J.R. get into the right frame of mind. It is difficult for most people to think about shaking their hips, etc. When you see someone else do it, it is like for me, at least, "OK I can do that." I don't expect him to go home anytime soon.

Rob and Cheryl

Song: "Hello"  by Lionel Ritchie

Dance: Rumba

Score: 25, his highest yet.

Bruno: He told him, "You are becoming a heartthroab, that says it all."

Len: He feels he pulled it off tonight and he took control of the dance.

Carrie Ann:  She really enjoyed it.

SereneLdy: I was so happy to see him do well this week. He seems to have finally overcome his shyness. Cheryl has been patient and has done an excellent job of getting him to where he is. He will not be in the bottom three, I don't think, but one never knows.

Chaz and Lacey:

Song: "Get Down on It," by Kool and the Gang

Dance: Samba

Score:  21

Carrie Ann: She finds him fascinating to watch and he makes the whole room root for him, especially when he gets it right.

Len: "You really gave it a go." He liked that there was more dancing vs. walking.

Bruno: He comments he did not do as well as J.R. but he did it very well. 

SereneLdy: He really did well at shaking those hips. One could tell he was nervous about doing that in front of an audience. Stacy was brilliant in bringing her dad ina to coach him. Her is a big man too and used to train Lacey. He demonstrated to Chsz how to do it, and it seemed likg a big weight had been lifted off of Chaz''s shoulders.  Chaz also commented he dance better now because his injury is not bothering him. Will he squeek by for another week?

David and Kym: 

Song: Tainted by Love,: by Soft Cell

Dance: Tango

Score: 25, his highest yet.

Bruno: "A tango with a rebel rascal." He liked that he was in charge.

Len: He felt it had a great 80's feel and he showed up tonight.

Carrie Ann:  She feels everything is there but he still lacks musicality.

SereneLdy:  He did show up and it is so nice to actually see him enjoying himself. And I love seeing the support of his Ex, Courtney Cox, and having his daughter there has been a strong motivator for him. Will he be in the bottom again? He should but one never knows.

One thing I really enjoy about this show, is that we truly have celebrities now who are not dancers. And I love seeing the improvement  and some of them are truly amazing. They even surprise themselves, which I also think it is about. Imagining doing something you have never done, and doing it fairly well.

Carson and Anna

Song:  "Wake me Before you Go" by Wham

Dance: Jive

Score: 19, the lowest of the evening.

Bruno: "It was loopier than a Looney Tune," but in a bad way. He thought it was an "achievement in madness."

Carrie Ann: As always she found entertaining but she did not see much technique and he seemed lost at times,.

Len: "I loved it with my heart but I am not sure it was good enough."

SereneLdy: As always he was entertaining. He brought the crowd to  their feet, loving him dancing with yellow wrist pom poms.And boy and he kick high The dance was mostly kicks and not very much of the actual "jive" movements. . He does wonders with those long lets. From a dancing perspective, it is time for him to go home. But he seems to have a large fan base, so we shall see. 

Anna: While waiting for the judges scores, Anna added this: "You're kind of the heart and entertainment of this competition."

 Nancy and Tristan

Song: "True Colors"

Dance:  Rumba

Score: 22 - Nancy's best score by 1.

Bruno: "It was pitched just right."

Carrie Ann:  She thought was nice and appropriate but she still wants to see more passion.

Len: "It was simple and effective. It was not raunchy." He noticed a few unstable movements.

SereneLdy: During rehearsals, Nancy disclosed that she had been a cheerleader and did one of her cheers for Tristan. This was probably the most passion and energy we have seen. But, she did not carry it to the floor. She is getting better with her technique, but like Carrie Ann, I am waiting for the moment when she just let's it all out. We see that passion on her show. Although she is getting better, she should be going home soon. She does have a large fan base, time will tell. But as a woman and what she represents, I like her very much. I would not want to have her against me in court!

Ricki and Derek:

Song: "Easy Love," by Phil Collins

Dance: Fox Trot

Score: 24, a disappointment for them as they have been at the top of the leader board for the last 3 weeks.

Carrie Ann: She felt it was great but did not need the extras.

Bruno: "You can't be genius each week. He felt, "there running man was not on and the footwork was all over the place.

Len: "It was not the best, but it was not the worst."

SereneLdy: I kept wondering what they were doing. Unfortunately, Derek was not around as an adult when this music and decade were happening. So, much of what they did, did not fit. Now, whey didn't he use the Internet to get some idea of what to do? But I adore them both and have enjoyed every performance but this one. They should be safe, but one never knows.
