Dating in the Dark

Dating in the Dark is a unique alternative series that asks the age-old question, "Is Love Blind?" Each week, three single men and three single women, all looking for love, will move into a house together, but be totally sequestered from the opposite sex. While they will have no chance of seeing each other in the light, they will have the opportunity to date in a completely dark room. Looks will be taken out of the equation as the men and women get to know each other and form bonds in total darkness.

After several days of dating in the darkroom, the participants will select the one member of the opposite sex that they want to see revealed in the light. For the first time, the participants will see whom they've been dating, wooing, kissing, snuggling with and forming bonds with. And after they see each other in the light for the first time, they have to make the difficult decision...do they stay with the person they fell for in the dark, or leave them behind? Hosted by Rossi Moreale (Can You Duet?, Temptation).

Dating in the Dark is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol holding, along with Talpa Content, the format department of Dutch media entrepreneur John's de Mol's company. David Goldberg is the North America chairman of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Tom Shelley and the co-executive producer is Richard Devinki.

If you think about it, except for photographs which may or may not be representative of the other person, online dating sites are the same thing essentially. I think this is better than online dating because at least you can hear the person and 'feel them' in both senses. There's a lot to be said about eye contact of course as well as the eyes being the mirror of the soul, but the opportunity to lie is a lot more prevalent on the net. I:d love to go to a place that offered a dark room with infrared cameras and surveilance of course like that and see if this does work.

While the show is interesting, there seems to be a load of strange things attached to it. Would you really trust dating someone you can't see? Unless you're blind and have no choice? I don't mean to sound paranoic, however I'd be a bit skeptical about dating that way. especially if the lights come on and you're disappointed. What if the other person like you, but you can't stand them. What happens then?

I think this show was interesting, but it does prove people of both genders are just tooooooooooooo superficial! It's a shame because these people were not ugly - they were just average. Most of us are average! Madison Avenue and the media really does a number on men AND women and makes up our minds for us what is deemed attractive which is assanine.

I saw the first episode. The show has potential. It is an interesting concept.
I was glad that two sets of people decided to go out. They really seemed to have things in common. Time will tell!!

I enjoyed the second show I saw today also. I will definitely keep watching. I do think though that the superficial people are pathetic. If they REALLY liked the personality of the person they were with, felt a connection, had a great time with them and had things in common, those are the important things and not hte looks. None of these people so far were so 'ugly' that looks should have mattered. To each their own but beauty is only skin deep.

I saw the first episode last week and plan on watching it today on fancast. Last week was interesting and quirky.
